Having support along the way
No hero succeeds alone. Not in movies. Not in real life. Yet somehow we've convinced ourselves that asking for support is a weakness.
We celebrate the lone wolf, or the one who figured it out all by themselves. But look closer at any great story — there is always someone beside them.
Don't get me wrong — no one can do the inner work for you. The honest reflection, hard decisions, commitment to showing up as the person you're becoming. That part is yours and yours alone.
But that doesn't mean you have to do everything all by yourself. One of the most underrated ingredients of growth and success is having the right support along the way. Not someone who does the work for you — but someone who walks alongside you while you do it.
That someone could be a friend, your partner, a family member, a manager who genuinely invests in your growth, a coach, a mentor...
The role matters less than what they bring:
The first is accountability, where someone genuinely invested in your growth asks — "how did it go? what did you learn? what's next?" You show up differently when you know someone is holding your journey with care.
The second is being seen, not as your job title, your worries, or excuses. Instead, they see you as someone with a vision and capacity. When someone holds that view of you — especially on the days you can't hold it yourself — it becomes possible and easier to take the next step.
Growth is your work. But you don't have to figure it out alone.
Who is that person in your life right now? And have you told them what they mean to you? 🙏
